Active Brain Training for Quick and Enduring Results
What is neurofeedback?
“Neurofeedback” is like exercise for your brain. Auditory and visual feedback is used to encourage your brain to increase the connectivity between various regions, which in turn influences certain brainwave frequencies. Real-time feedback is then used to train your brain in specialized skills, such as relaxing, focusing, etc.. Just as with physical exercise., regularly exercising your brain will result in a gradual shift in performance. However, instead of having to go to the gym for the rest of your life to keep up your progress, neurofeedback typically requires only 20-40 sessions to make noticeable and lasting changes!
Neurofeedback is not a treatment for any specific disorder, per say. Instead, it is a general process that relaxes the nervous system and optimizes brain function. Neurofeedback is used to affect broad regulatory action of the brain, including mood, attention, self-regulation and self-control, sleep, energy, stress, and even migraines and seizures. Neurofeedback has been found to be effective in helping people better manage the symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, insomnia, age-related cognitive disorders, memory problems, brain injuries and symptoms of the autism spectrum.

Types of Training
Dr, Kroll uses several evidence-based and research-validated methods to develop an individualized plan for your specific needs. These include:
Biofeedback is an innovative approach to improving emotional wellbeing by teaching patients to change heart rhythm patterns to create physiological coherence; a scientifically measurable state characterized by increased order and harmony in our mind, emotions and body. Sessions last about 20 minutes, and also involve computer-based interactive games.
Alpha Stim is a cranial electrotherapy stimulation device that relieves symptoms of anxiety, depression, and insomnia quickly and safely. Sessions last 20 minutes, during which you are encouraged to relax.
EEG Neurofeedback training is incorporated into programs for those suffering with attention and focus problems or who are in need of active brain training. Electroencephalography (EEG) neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback therapy which measures and records brain waves. The user receives visual or auditory feedback which help to train the brain to better regulate its activity. Neurofeedback has been used in clinics around the world for decades, and clinical research has shown it to be effective in treating many neurological conditions with lasting results. Sessions last about 30 minutes, and involve games and computerized activities.

Does this work?
Dr. Kroll is committed to offering the most cutting edge services to help individuals live vital lives without needing long-term therapy. Because over 30 years of research with hospitals, the military and the VA has provided significant empirical support for neurofeedback, she has worked to bring this innovative practice to East Texas.
Here are a few examples of the research supporting these interventions:
The American Academy of Pediatrics rated neurofeedback as a Level 1 “Best Support” Intervention for ADHD, at the same level with medication and behavioral interventions.

Studies conducted with over 11,500* people have shown improvements in mental & emotional well-being in just 6-9 weeks using heart-rate variability training:
24% improvement in the ability to focus
30% improvement in sleep
38% improvement in calmness
46% drop in anxiety
48% drop in fatigue
56% drop in depression

Alpha Stim has had over 100 independent studies that have found consistent improvement in anxiety, depression, insomnia and chronic pain. Because of its efficacy, it has been used by the VA and Lone Survivor Foundation, where it was introduced to Dr. Kroll.

Does it take forever?
No! On average, treatment plans are completed over only about two months. And the good news is, the effects of biofeedback and neurofeedback are lasting and long-term. Most patients complete treatment within a couple of months and go on to live vital lives with no need for ongoing care.
